Who Can Apply?

This is where candidates need to be careful. AAI has prescribed different qualifications for different posts, so having a general graduation degree does not automatically make a candidate eligible for every vacancy.

For Manager positions, relevant educational qualifications along with three years of post-qualification experience are generally required. Junior Executive positions, on the other hand, do not require prior work experience if the candidate possesses the prescribed qualification.

Some major eligibility requirements are given below:

Manager (Engineering – Civil): Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Technology with relevant experience.

Manager (Engineering – Electrical): Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology with relevant experience.

Manager (Finance): MBA/PGDM in Finance, CA, CMA/ICWA or CFA, along with relevant experience.

Manager (IT): Relevant engineering degree in Computer Science/IT/Electronics or MCA with required experience.

Manager (Architecture): Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with the required professional registration and experience.

Manager (Law): Professional Law degree with relevant experience.

Manager (Fire Services): Relevant engineering qualification in Fire, Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with experience.

Manager (Operations): Science graduation with MBA or a relevant engineering degree, along with experience.

Manager (Commercial): Graduation with MBA in Marketing or relevant engineering qualification.

Manager (Corporate Communications): Relevant bachelor’s degree along with postgraduate qualification/diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication and relevant experience.

For Junior Executive positions, the qualification depends on the discipline. For example, Junior Executive (Finance) requires a finance-related MBA/PGDM or professional qualification such as CA/CMA/CFA, while Junior Executive (Law) requires a professional law degree. Junior Executive (Operations) accepts either the prescribed Science + MBA combination or an Engineering degree.

For Junior Executive (Survey & Cartography), candidates can qualify with a Civil Engineering degree or specified master's-level qualifications in areas such as Geography, Remote Sensing & GIS, Geo-informatics or Geomatics.

Important:

Candidates should check the exact qualification, specialization, experience and other conditions against their chosen post in the official notification before submitting the form.

Age Limit

The age criteria are different for the two levels of posts.

Manager: Maximum 32 years

Junior Executive: Maximum 27 years

The age is reckoned with reference to 7 September 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit is available to eligible reserved categories and other candidates as per applicable government/AAI rules. For example, SC/ST candidates generally receive 5 years and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates 3 years of relaxation, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Salary: A Major Attraction

One of the reasons AAI recruitment attracts a large number of applicants is its pay structure.

Manager

₹60,000 – 3% – ₹1,80,000

Junior Executive

₹40,000 – 3% – ₹1,40,000

Apart from the basic pay scale, selected employees may receive applicable allowances and benefits according to AAI rules. Reports based on the recruitment details put the approximate annual CTC at around ₹21 lakh for Managers and ₹14 lakh for Junior Executives, although the actual compensation can vary depending on the applicable components.

How Will AAI Select Candidates?

The selection process is not exactly the same for every post.

The recruitment primarily involves a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by further stages depending on the position. Manager posts generally include an interview stage, while Junior Executive candidates undergo the applicable post-recruitment verification/selection stages.

The Manager (Fire Services) post has additional physical and driving-related requirements because of the nature of the job. Therefore, candidates applying for this position should read the specific selection conditions carefully.

The CBT examination date has not been announced yet. AAI is expected to publish the examination schedule separately on its official website.

Application Fee

The application fee for the recruitment is ₹1,000, inclusive of GST, and payment is made through the online mode.

However, AAI has provided exemption from the application fee for certain categories, including:

* SC candidates

* ST candidates

* PwBD candidates

* Women candidates

* AAI apprentices who have successfully completed one year of apprenticeship training

Candidates should ensure that they select the correct category while completing the application because the fee exemption is subject to the conditions specified by AAI.

A Few Things Applicants Should Not Ignore

With 389 vacancies, it may be tempting to simply fill the form and start preparing. But AAI recruitment is highly post-specific.

The first thing a candidate should check is whether the exact degree and specialization match the selected post. Manager applicants should also verify that their experience is counted as relevant post-qualification experience.

Another important point is the cutoff date. Candidates must satisfy the required educational qualification and experience within the dates prescribed in the notification.

It is also worth remembering that the vacancy numbers are subject to the conditions mentioned in the official recruitment advertisement. Therefore, applicants should rely on the official notification for the final interpretation of eligibility, reservation and selection rules.

Final Word

The "AAI Recruitment 2026" is a good opportunity for professionals as well as eligible graduates looking to enter the aviation and airport management sector. With 389 vacancies spread across engineering, finance, law, operations, IT, commercial and other specialised areas, candidates from several educational backgrounds can find a suitable post.

For experienced professionals, the Manager vacancies offer a higher-level career opportunity with a pay scale going up to ₹1.80 lakh, while Junior Executive positions provide an entry route for candidates who meet the required educational qualifications without needing prior work experience.

Since the application deadline is 7 September 2026, eligible candidates should first verify their post-wise eligibility and then complete the online application carefully rather than rushing through the form.
